The most impressive result of the small kitchen area was space utilization. This was a priority along with easy access to kitchenware. The existing cabinets were gutted, painted (white) and beautiful shaker style doors put on. There was a lot of coordination involved because of new wiring, plumbing, and tile work which took longer. Patience was the key to a beautiful new kitchen. Everything was individualized to my needs and I couldn't be happier.

David is awesome! We hired him to build and install custom bunk beds for a small kids bedroom. He worked with us to create the exact design we wanted and provided lots of helpful insight in areas that we hadn’t considered ( like leaving extra room between the door and the bed frame so little fingers couldn’t get pinched) He kept to the promised timeline and delivered a beautiful product that completely exceeded our expectations! Dave replaced my falling-down backyard fence with a better version and upgraded my aging pressure treated deck floor and vinyl rail with a beautiful IPE deck floor and stainless cable/IPE rail system. The result is an elegant, peaceful place where we love to hang out to catch sun and watch the birds during the day and listen to the foghorns and frogs at night. Dave is a creative craftsman, fun to work with and has a great sense of design. I'm including pics but they don't really do justice to the transformation.

He built us a beautiful window seat over our baseboard heater with cutouts to allow air flow which is now the most coveted reading spot in the house. This past summer, we asked Dave if he could figure out a way to access our chimney trim. Between the extended pergola and the roof angle, it was challenging but those trim pieces definitely needed replacement. He tried various approaches and eventually figured out a way to reach up there with a small version of a bucket truck. An added obstacle was a narrow side yard. He persevered and success. Trim was replaced and the project was off our minds.

This is the first time we have hired David Thibodeau (Wish List Home Improvement). The project involved repair/replacement of ornamental detail (the bases of two columns) on either side of a primary exterior door to our home that had been ruined by years of sun and foul weather. The columns were not structural, but did bear a load from additional detail overhead, so they had to be firmly braced in order to remove the old bases and install new ones constructed from weather-proof materials. The estimated cost was greater than we had anticipated, but it had to be done, and the evident precision and detail of the David's work product justified the price. David took numerous photos and measurements that allowed him to construct the new bases in his shop. The estimated starting date on site was delayed by over a month due to difficulties and delays on other jobs, but David kept us advised by email and included photos of the fabrication work he was doing in his shop. The removal and installation ultimately took the equivalent of more than two days (interrupted by bad weather), but we are very pleased with the results and confident that these bases will last as longer than the columns themselves.

I have hired Wish List for over 10 years for numerous projects both small and large ranging from retrofitting closets, designing a built-in media center and bookcases to renovating my kitchen to mention only a few of the jobs. Dave Thibodeau is very creative and he is a highly skilled carpenter; he listens to what you want done (an all too unusual trait); he stays on budget; he completes work by his agreed upon timeframe; he cleans and tidies the work areas daily so you don't have to live in a total mess; and, importantly especially for long duration jobs, he's very pleasant and easy to be around. I live in a 5 story townhouse which means that any work done on the top two floors needs to have all equipment, supplies, appliances, etc hoisted up 5 stories and swung over a balcony. It is a challenge that few workmen have been willing to take on. He has my unqualified recommendation - I would never use anyone else.

He designed and installed two intricate deck systems, built numerous cupboards, bookcases and custom storage areas in 2 other houses. Dave designed and built a custom office for me in 2010 which involved curved soffits to fit the curved ceiling. Two years later, when I moved, he built me another office, this time using custom-cut units that were not "built-in" but looked built-in.
